Susan Gentz

Director, Grant Writing and Strategy

profile jynaya joiner

Susan Gentz is an experienced policy specialist and grant writer who began her career working on education policy both as a former staffer in the Iowa House of Representatives and the United States Senate.

Along with experience at both federal and state levels, she served as the Deputy Executive Director for the Center for Digital Education, tracked education issues for a government relations firm in Arlington, VA and was a policy manager at iNACOL (now the Aurora Institute), where she wrote reports to move the field forward with innovative learning models, best practices, and policy recommendations. She has additionally helped districts, charters, industry partners and nonprofits with advocacy efforts and has assisted in finding, writing, and winning several grants for partners. As the founder of BSG Strategies and partner at K20Connect, her policy thoughts and ideas have been featured in Tech & Learning, Fast Company, the American School Board Journal (NSBA magazine), Converge, and several other media outlets

On a Personal Note

Gentz is based in the Des Moines Metro area (Iowa). In her free time she enjoys a solid park day with her three young children, party planning, and explaining the difference between sweet corn and field corn to folks who did not grow up in Iowa. And surprising those same people when she knows nothing about potatoes.
